Carl was born in Celenza Sul Trigno, Italy. He came to The United States through Catholic Charities and was adopted by Suzanne & John Martens, original owners of Mount Airy Lodge in the Poconos. Carl worked in nearly all facets of hotels operations at the Lodge for 30 years. He later went on to manage hotel brands such as Hilton and Sheraton in the Lehigh Valley. He is a passionate, driven leader focused on the positive guest experience to achieve satisfied customers. He has extensive knowledge of cleaning operations.
Carl served in the US Army and was stationed at NATO Headquarters, Casteau, Belgium. He received Top-Secret Clearance. He later received an Honorable Discharge.
